Functional Area Templates

The Satori Financial Reporting and Budgeting/Forecasting applications have pre-configured functional area templates located in the XXX directory. With these templates, you can begin entering users and groups,assigning metadata and fact data security, and apply them to a functional area which in turn applies them automatically to the cubes assigned to that functional area.

Financial Reporting functional area templates

The Financial Reporting application will have one or more cubes for reports and the rest used for parameters. The default cube used for Reports is ‘Financial Reporting’ and this cube contains the bulk of the assigned factdata security.

The ‘Everyone’ group, which applies generic security, handles metadata read access to all cubes and dimensions in the Financial Reporting proCube database.

To control additional application functionality, all users for Financial Reporting have a corresponding member name created in the Users & Groups dimension. The name of the member is the same as the username created in proCube. For example, after creating a username in proCube, that same member name is created in the dimension User & Groups.

Groups are created within the Users & Groups dimension. These are different groups than those created in proCube group security and they control the application settings. proCube Security Manager adds a user as a child within a selected group.

A user can only be a member of one group. The group does not have to be the same name as the group that the user was assigned to under proCube security.

Budgeting/Forecasting functional area templates

The Budgeting and Forecasting templates have five functional areas: Expenses, Compensation, Revenue, Revenue Cash Cycle, Capital Expenditures. Each module is associated with one or more cubes. The generic role ‘Budget Managers’ grants write access to the parameter cubes without the need for Administrator access.

In most cases, security is set by specifying one or more members from the Office, PG Dept, and Account dimension. There may be additional added dimensions through customizations that also need to be accounted for. A configuration parameter determines which dimensions specify security rules.

Users who input data should have write access to the month dimension using the defined Subset ‘DescriptionFiscalCalendar’. For example:

All and {Month.Subset('DescriptionFiscalCalendar')} and {"Office.01"} and {"PG Dept.000"} allows {Groupname} to Write;

All and {"Month.Approved"} allows {‘UserorGroup'} to Read;

Users with ‘Approval’ access should have write access to all months.
