1     Introduction

 

This User Guide is intended for users of the Envisage Utilities Pack, who setup and maintain the envisage solution.

 

It is assumed that the user has at least a general working knowledge of Excel and the Envisage solution with regard to solution concepts and navigation.

 

2     Initial Steps

2.1    Opening Excel Workbook

 

 

 

Navigate to the directory in which the Profit & Loss Core master spreadsheet is saved, and double-click to open.

Ensure you use the version for Excel 2003.

 

If a Security Warning appears, click on “Enable Macros” to allow the Envisage macros to run.

 

Depending on your security settings, you may be asked to log in to the database.  Enter your username and password.

 

(If this step does not appear, this is because you have been logged in automatically from your Windows account).

 

2.2    Navigating to the Utilities Menu

 

 

 

You will first see the Business Unit Forecasting screen similar to that below:

 

 

 

Open the utilities menu by using the Envisage Administration menu

 

 

There is also an Envisage Admin Toolbar, with a utilities button.  This provides quick access to the Envisage Utilities Menu.

 

 

If the Envisage Toolbar is not visible, you can select it, using View à Toolbars from the Excel menu, and ticking the toolbar called Administration

 

 

 

 

3     Using the Utilities

There are several utility provided with Envisage which aid in the setup and maintenance of the solution. The following details what utilities are available and how to use them.

Child

A member that falls under another member in a hierarchy

CPU

Central Processing Unit

Cube

A collection of data points

Cube Export

The process of exporting data from proCube to a text file.

Cube Transfer

The process of transferring data

Data Point

The intersection of members of a cube

Detail

A member with no children

Dimension

Part of a cube

ERM

Envisage Reporting Module

Fact Data

Values assigned to data points

Group

A collection of users

Hierarchy

A combination of members arranged into detail and aggregate members

Member

Part of a dimension.

A predefined cube transfer

The entire business solution, including the staging database, the proCube database and the Excel reports and Utilities

Staging Database

Database that consolidates and manipulates source data

User

A person who has access to the database

Xchange

The process of refreshing data from a relational source

Xchange Cube

Cube that contains data direct from the relational source
